Following a suspension of the show due to host Jimmy Kimmel’s controversial comments about the death of Charlie Kirk, Disney announced that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to television. Less than a week after the Walt Disney Company pulled the late-night show from air, it is set to resume broadcasting.
On Wednesday last week, the company decided to suspend production to avoid further inflaming an emotional situation for the country. According to a statement released on September 22 by Disney to USA TODAY, “We felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.” After thoughtful conversations with Jimmy Kimmel over the past few days, the decision was made to return the show on Tuesday.
Walt Disney-owned ABC had previously announced that it would indefinitely stop airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after harsh criticism from the Federal Communications Commission regarding Kimmel’s comments about Kirk’s assassination.
