During his studio’s 10th anniversary event at Tokyo Game Show 2025, Hideo Kojima shared updates on upcoming projects. He began with OD, a horror game published by Xbox Game Studios that survived Microsoft’s most recent cancellations. A new trailer featuring Sophia Lillis was released, alongside Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer. While the video feels quite spooky, it offers few clues about how the game will play. In a previous comment, Kojima suggested that OD might be the type of game some players love passionately while others dislike immediately. We’ll need to wait longer to understand his exact meaning.
The anniversary livestream also revealed the new animated film project, Death Stranding Mosquito. This production will be handled by ABC ANIMATION and feature a screenplay written by Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband, Prisoners, The Red Road, Papillon, and Raised by Wolves). Hiroshi Miyamoto will direct the film, which is separate from the live-action Death Stranding movie that Michael Sarnoski is writing and directing.
Lastly, Kojima provided details about PHYSINT, a new tactical espionage action game developed in partnership with Sony. A key art was shared, hinting at a protagonist who looks like Eddie Redmayne, though this remains unconfirmed. Three actors were confirmed: Charlee Fraser (Anyone But You, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Ma Dong-seok (Train to Busan, Eternals, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach), and Minami Hamabe (Godzilla Minus One). The recent SAG-AFTRA strike delayed casting, but news on the main character’s identity will come soon. Additionally, 3Lateral, the team behind MetaHuman technology (acquired by Epic Games in 2019), is developing new tech to capture Minami Hamabe’s likeness accurately.
PHYSINT is still in the conceptual phase and may be five to six years away from release.
