The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Drivers and Conductors’ Union has issued an ultimatum to the state government and HRTC management. The union is threatening to limit work hours to eight per day starting August 1 if their long-standing demands are not met by July 31. Key issues include unresolved Dearness Allowance, overdue salaries, and medical reimbursements.
Union President Man Singh Thakur confirmed that a formal notice was issued on July 11, providing sufficient time for the state government to address these demands. Complaints also include delayed salaries, unresolved pension issues, and lack of compensation for night duties. Thakur emphasized that financial stability is crucial for employees.
A meeting between HRTC management and the union was held on Wednesday, during which the Managing Director heard the grievances. However, financial issues such as pensions remain pending with the Deputy Chief Minister, who has not yet arranged a meeting before the set deadline. The union is prepared to intensify its protest if conditions do not improve by July 31.
