Metroid Prime 4 Coming 2025 – First Look at Fan Expo Canada

[Nintendo has confirmed that] Metroid Prime 4 is still scheduled to launch before the end of the year. The game will be playable alongside other Nintendo Switch titles such as Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, Hades II, Borderlands 4, and Elden Ring Tarnished Edition during Fan Expo Canada in Toronto, Ontario. The expo runs from Thursday, August 21, to Sunday, August 24, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

This news is great for fans who have been waiting eight years since its announcement in June 2017. Metroid Prime 4’s development history has been tumultuous: Nintendo initially handed it over to Bandai Namco but later brought it back to Retro Studios, which inevitably impacted the release timeline.

Between Nintendo’s confirmation and recent listing on South Korea’s rating board (the GRAC), there are good reasons to believe that Metroid Prime 4 won’t be delayed again. If this is true, a release date announcement could be coming soon.

The Metroid Prime 4: Beyond demo at the Nintendo Switch 2 event was brief, covering the game’s intro and its first boss battle. The demo opens with Samus arriving in a heated conflict between the Federation Force and Space Pirates on the remote planet of Tenmaar. For this part of the game, the usual quiet tone of Metroid games is replaced by intense action and general activity as a larger conflict unfolds around you.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond likely won’t change how most fans feel about the series. However, it’s a good thing that we haven’t had fresh content in a long time. This version will be the most playable and technically sound of Metroid Prime to date. With only a few easily-tweakable issues, mouse controls work well, and 120fps on a Nintendo console is actually happening. I still have more to play, but it seems like Metroid Prime fans are in for a rewarding experience.
