A battery upgrade is not on the cards for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This means that Samsung will prevent its top-end offering from competing with rivals in terms of charging speed. However, rumor has it that Samsung plans to jump from a 45W charging limit and adopt 60W, significantly reducing the time needed to charge the battery fully.
One tipster now claims that the Galaxy S26 Ultra can reach 80% of its total charge in just 30 minutes. But what about the remaining 20%? Ice Universe, on Weibo, commented that the smartphone’s battery can go from 0% to between 75-80% in 30 minutes. According to a comprehensive testing by ChargerLAB of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it took 37 minutes to reach 80%, and an hour and 22 minutes to fully charge.
These charging patterns are not uncommon. Smartphones allow a rapid increase in battery capacity followed by a slower pace for the last 20%. While this can be frustrating, it is deliberate and aimed at maximizing overall battery life. Implementing improved fast charging benefits when you need a quick top-up if you have to go somewhere urgently.
Sadly, the tipster notes that the battery capacity of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will remain unchanged from its predecessor. While Samsung’s decision to implement 60W charging is refreshing, it raises the question: Is a bigger battery too much to ask? We may find out in 2027.
