Apple is set to launch its next-generation Apple TV later this year, between September and December. The current model was released in 2022, and the new variant marks the company’s first major streaming box refresh in three years. The new Apple TV will feature enhanced internals for improved app and game support.
### Apple’s Next-Gen Apple TV: Transforming Home Entertainment
According to MacRumors, one of the notable upgrades could be custom-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips from Apple. This upgrade is expected to significantly boost connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 standards. As a result, the set-top box will offer faster speeds, lower latency, and better smart-home integration, especially through accessories using Thread mesh networking. These custom chips are anticipated to reduce reliance on Broadcom while keeping costs down.
### Enhanced Performance and Apple Intelligence
The upcoming Apple TV could be powered by A18 or A19 chips—the company’s most advanced mobile chips—which will match the performance of the latest iPhones. This added power is expected to enable Apple Intelligence, enhancing Siri interactions, providing more personalized content recommendations, and improving voice control.
### Additional Features and Camera Integration
FaceTime might also be integrated into the new Apple TV with a dedicated camera for gesture-based controls, allowing navigation without relying on the Siri Remote. While these upgrades are promising, nothing has been officially confirmed yet. However, if credible, we may see a Vision Pro-style experience in the living room.
### Pricing and Software
Despite these advancements, some expect that the base version of the Apple TV could be priced at $100, making it more competitive compared to alternatives like Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Configurations and regional pricing might range from $129 to $149. The device will launch with tvOS 26 installed, which includes features such as FaceTime Live Captions, Thread 1.4 support, and karaoke features, all integrated into the new Liquid Glass redesign.
These features are expected to make the new Apple TV a central hub for entertainment and smart-home integration.
