Apple is set to launch its next-generation Apple TV later this year, between September and December. As a result, the set-top box will offer faster speeds, lower latency, and better smart-home integration, especially through accessories using Thread mesh networking. These custom chips are anticipated to reduce reliance on Broadcom while keeping costs down.

FaceTime might also be integrated into the new Apple TV with a dedicated camera for gesture-based controls, allowing navigation without relying on the Siri Remote. Despite these advancements, some expect that the base version of the Apple TV could be priced at $100, making it more competitive compared to alternatives like Amazon Fire TV and Roku. The device will launch with tvOS 26 installed, which includes features such as FaceTime Live Captions, Thread 1.4 support, and karaoke features, all integrated into the new Liquid Glass redesign.
