AMD has restricted its sales to select system builders. XFX, AMD’s board partner, confirmed that its XFX Radeon AI PRO R9700 edition will be available only to system integrators. This means it won’t appear in DIY markets for a few more days.
The Radeon AI PRO R9700 is designed for AI workloads with 32 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, doubling the capacity of the RX 9070 XT (16 GB). Since its availability is limited to system integrators, its official MSRP remains unknown.
Unlike previous generations where AMD sold reference designs and made them available in DIY markets, this restriction may be due to unknown reasons. Additionally, the RDNA 4 lineup might not see a stronger GPU than the R9700, as no plans for more powerful dies have been revealed by AMD.
In summary, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 is currently only accessible through system integrators and won’t be available in DIY markets for the foreseeable future.
