Germany has announced that it will suspend all arms exports to Israel that could be used in the Gaza Strip. Chancellor Friedrich Merz made this statement on Friday.
“Israel has the right to defend itself against the terror of Hamas,” said Merz in a press release. “The release of hostages and determined negotiations for a ceasefire are our top priorities. The disarmament of Hamas is essential. Hamas must not play a role in the future of Gaza.”
A picture of Chancellor Friedrich Merz was included, showing him speaking to the media following talks at the Chancellery on July 29, 2025, in Berlin.
