### Apple’s Next iPad Mini: Flagship Power and OLED Brilliance
The next iPad mini is rumored to adopt the A19 Pro processor, marking a substantial upgrade from its predecessor. The chip will be available in three variants—standard A19, A19 Pro, and A19 Pro with fewer GPU cores. The iPhone 17 will use the standard A19, while the iPhone 17 Pro models will feature the most powerful A19 Pro with a six-core GPU. The iPad mini 8 is expected to receive the full-fledged A19 Pro chip.
In addition to the processor upgrades, Apple plans to introduce an OLED display on the smallest iPad model. This switch from LCD to OLED will significantly enhance visual quality, offering deeper blacks, rich colors, and higher contrast ratios. These improvements make the device ideal for media consumption, gaming, and other tasks that benefit from vibrant visuals.
### Launch and Timeline
Initial reports suggest that Apple might release the iPad mini 7 next year with these upgrades. However, some analysts predict a later launch in 2027. Given Apple’s typical three-year release cycle for the iPad mini lineup and the last model’s announcement in October 2024, 2027 is a likely launch date.
Apart from the iPad mini 8, Apple is also working on refreshing its low-cost iPad with an A18 chip. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus currently use this chip, and it’s expected to debut in spring next year.
