This news has generated interest within the Call of Duty community because back in February 2023, Microsoft announced a ten-year deal with Nintendo to bring the franchise to Switch platforms. So far, no Call of Duty game has been released on Nintendo consoles. The upcoming Switch 2 is more powerful than Sony’s and Microsoft’s previous generation consoles, suggesting that bringing new titles to this hardware should be feasible; however, there are still some hurdles to overcome.
Black Ops 7 will also be available in physical editions for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X at €79.99. Pre-orders will open on Wednesday, August 20, immediately following Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom Opening Night Live event.
The game is co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software. The campaign follows events from Black Ops II in 2012, ten years later. David Mason (voiced by Milo Ventimiglia) and his team will pursue a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear. There will also be multiplayer modes, including a round-based cooperative Zombies mode.
In terms of gameplay, the developers promise an evolution of the omnimovement system seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
