AMD’s strongest workstation RDNA 4 GPU, the Radeon AI PRO R9700, is now available at retailers. This powerful GPU was first showcased at Computex a few months ago and launched in late March. However, it was hard to find, with XFX being one of the first board partners to announce its availability through system integrators. Thankfully, more AIBs are now offering their own designs since AMD doesn’t sell the reference model.
The GPU comes in various designs, including a blower-style design with Turbo Fan, similar to the GIGABYTE version that recently arrived for one Redditor on the LocalLLAMA subreddit. The list price was $1220, but with taxes and shipping, the total paid was $1324.
ASRock’s Creator Radeon AI PRO R9700 is also listed at a similar price of $1329 on Newegg. This version features a blower-style design with Creator branding and is currently available for purchase.
Both the GIGABYTE and ASRock versions cost between $1200 and $1300, which makes them more expensive than the fastest RDNA 4 gaming GPU, the Radeon RX 9070 XT. Despite sharing identical specifications—such as 4096 Stream Processors, 128 ROPs, nearly the same TDP, and the same 20 Gbps GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit interface—the key difference is that the Radeon AI PRO R9700 offers 32 GB of memory compared to 16 GB on the RX 9070 XT. This makes it ideal for productivity and AI workloads.
Additionally, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 includes memory ECC support for Linux, which helps detect and correct memory errors.
More such R9700 models are expected soon from other AMD board partners like ASRock, ASUS, and Sapphire.
