Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct presentation scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2025. This 45-minute livestream will feature legendary game director and designer Masahiro Sakurai to discuss the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 title, Kirby Air Riders.
The news was first shared via the Nintendo Today app before being published on social media platforms like Twitter. The presentation is set to begin at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST and will be streamed live on YouTube.
On the official Kirby Air Riders account, a tweet reads: “Join us on Aug 19 at 6am PT for a Kirby Air Riders Direct with director Mr. Sakurai. The livestreamed presentation will last roughly 45 minutes and provide an in-depth look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game.”
This will be the first glimpse of a non-Smash Bros. game from Sakurai in years, as well as his first directed Switch 2 title. Given that Kirby Air Riders is currently set for release later this year, tomorrow’s presentation is likely to include an official release date announcement along with gameplay footage and other details about the follow-up to the 2003 GameCube title, Kirby Air Ride.
