Apple is not introducing any new FineWoven accessories with the iPhone 16 launch, and it appears this trend will continue for the iPhone 17 family. Mass production of the lineup reportedly began as Apple prepares for its September event. The FineWoven cases were met with significant criticism due to their lack of durability and high price. However, a tipster notes that the new iPhone 17 cases may not offer an aesthetic upgrade, but they will feature a high-tech synthetic fabric designed to enhance durability and protect against daily scratches.
The new iPhone 17 cases will align with Apple’s sustainability goals and are rumored to arrive in four attractive matte colors
The only FineWoven accessory currently available on Apple’s website is the iPhone wallet, priced at $59. While customers might expect a high-quality product for that price, this was not the case with the FineWoven series. A tipster named Majin Bu has now reported that the new iPhone 17 cases will not necessarily be more luxurious than their predecessors but will feature a visible textile texture made from a new synthetic fabric designed to improve durability.
Majin Bu also shared that the new cases will come in four matte colors: green, orange, blue, and purple, while being manufactured using eco-friendly materials. Although Apple might be compromising on luxury for practicality, questions about long-term durability remain unanswered.
“This material offers a rubbery, grippy texture, improving hold and reducing the risk of drops. However, it trades some premium elegance for practicality. While the look is modern and sleek, questions remain about its long-term durability.”
The iPhone 17 family is expected to be unveiled on September 9 by German sources, with pre-orders set to begin on September 12, a Friday. The official release will occur one week later, on September 19.
