Developer Team Cherry has announced that they will host a “Special Announcement” for Hollow Knight: Silksong on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 7:30am PT / 10:30am ET / 3:30pm BST. This marks the first official word from Team Cherry since the game’s highly anticipated release, and it likely signals when we’ll learn about its release date.
The announcement is set to premiere on YouTube with this message: “The countdown is on! Join us in 48 hours for a special announcement about Hollow Knight: Silksong!” The studio shared the same message on X (formerly Twitter), indicating that’s all they will reveal until Thursday.
For context, we’ve known that Silksong would be playable at Gamescom 2025 and has marketing ties to Xbox and the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally. This has led to speculation that when the release date for the new Xbox handheld is officially announced during Gamescom ONL 2025, it might also coincide with Silksong’s release date.
However, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier claims that the release date will be saved for the Thursday presentation. We’ll see how this all unfolds by the end of today and whether Silksong makes an appearance during the ONL presentation. What is certain is that we are in the final stretch for Silksong; the wait is almost over, and we’ll soon have a lot more official news on the title than we’ve had since its initial announcement.
