In his final Instagram post, Peltonen mentioned receiving treatment for kidney disease and contracting a secondary infection that led to medical leave from parliament.

Peltonen was elected with 5,747 votes in the 2023 elections. He served on the administration and legal affairs committees, according to Ilta-Sanomat.
He was also a member of Järvenpää City Council and its youngest chairman at 18 years old.
In tribute, Finnish MP Antti Kaikkonen, who previously served as defense minister, wrote about Peltonen’s talent and warmth. “The news is shocking and saddening,” he said in a post on X.
Parliament confirmed the death while noting that the coroner’s investigation was ongoing. They shared in the grief of his relatives.
In an update, Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo expressed shock at losing a colleague in parliament.
Finland’s 200-member parliament, called the eduskunta, is currently on summer recess until September.
