New Geekbench 6 results reveal significant performance gains from the Tensor G5 chip, though Snapdragon still leads benchmarks

According to the listing, the Pixel 10 Pro XL was spotted running Android 13 with 16GB of RAM. The benchmark shows that the new Tensor G5 chip delivers a significant performance boost compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, particularly in multi-core tests (via HustlersPassion). This highlights Google’s ongoing efforts to close the performance gap between its in-house processors and industry leaders.

The Tensor G5 delivered a single-core score of 2,296 and a multi-core score of 6,203. These scores suggest significant upgrades for both CPU and GPU processing compared to the Tensor G4 chip used in previous models. Compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which scored just 1,889 in single-core and 4,247 in multi-core tests, these results represent a 21 percent and 46 percent increase in performance, respectively.

While this is good news for Pixel fans, it’s important to note that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chips in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series still lead the benchmarks. This means the Pixel 10 Pro XL will likely feel faster than its predecessor but may struggle to keep up with the most powerful Android flagships on the market. Some analysts believe Google’s strategy is to balance power, efficiency, AI capabilities, and software optimizations rather than just improving Geekbench scores.

The performance figures could differ after release, as these benchmarks are based on unfinished software, potentially leading to optimization issues. This means that if hardware and software aren’t optimized, we might not see the GPU performing at its full capability.
