AMD stated during an interview with Quasarzone that the Radeon RX 9060 is OEM-exclusive and currently only available through pre-built gaming systems. The company might consider releasing it to retail channels later, allowing gamers to purchase it as a standalone product. Currently, the cheapest GPU from the RX 9000 series is the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8 GB, priced at $300. Some retailers offer it for less due to lower demand compared to the 16 GB edition, positioning it as a direct successor to the RX 7600.
According to AMD, the primary reason for launching the card as an OEM-exclusive is to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) grow their businesses. The company didn’t provide an exact date but noted that bringing the card to retail channels remains undecided until they deem it appropriate.
The Radeon RX 9060 will likely cost between $249 and $269 if launched as a standalone product in retail stores. One of AMD’s reasons for this decision is to avoid confusion caused by similar naming of the 8 GB and 16 GB RX 9060 XT GPUs.
The Radeon RX 9060 can be easily distinguished from the RX 9060 XT GPUs, allowing users to know which GPU they are getting. However, the RX 9060 XT 8 GB and 16 GB editions may still confuse some unaware consumers since system integrators continue to use them in pre-built systems. We advise users to always read the title and description to confirm the exact GPU model they are purchasing.
