Update 20/08/2025: Wario64 on X (formerly Twitter) spotted that Best Buy has already listed the prices for the ROG Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X, confirming the prices leaked by Billbil-kun below. Pre-orders are not yet live but should be available soon since Billbil-kun already reported that they would go live today.
Original Story:
Xbox has announced the official release date for the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X at Gamescom 2025. The devices will launch on October 16, 2025.
This news was shared during Xbox’s first day of livestreaming at this year’s Gamescom, but it’s no surprise for those following the development of the ROG Xbox Ally, as Billbil-kun from Dealabs leaked the release date last week.
Billbil-kun also leaked the prices. According to a recent Bluesky post, the US prices are expected to be $549.99 for the ROG Xbox Ally and $899.99 for the ROG Xbox Ally X. The European prices were previously leaked by Billbil-kun last month.
The Gamescom live stream also provided details about the Ally, including that it will come with Microsoft’s Co-Pilot for Gaming built-in. Games will carry a performance tag similar to Valve’s Steam Deck, indicating how well they perform on the device. There are three tags: “Should perform well on this device” for games tested and hitting at least 30FPS; “Should perform great on this device” for those tested and hitting at least 60FPS; and “Performance check not available yet” for untested games.
Xbox introduced its Handheld Compatibility Program, a new initiative to ensure more games are ready for play on the supported handheld device. Xbox has been working with studios to test “thousands of games for handheld compatibility” to prepare them for players picking up an Ally in October.
It’s reassuring to see the official confirmation of the release date, even if the news was already leaked. Hopefully, we’ll have more pricing details soon.
