Google recently held its highly anticipated event, Made by Google 2025, which featured major announcements and a unique presentation style. Jimmy Fallon hosted the star-studded event, but the focus was on significant hardware upgrades, particularly the Pixel 10 series. Among these upgrades, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold stood out as it sets a new benchmark for the industry.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold is Here to Compete with Galaxy Z Fold 7, Featuring an IP68 Rating, Qii Wireless Charging, Tensor G5 Chip, and Many Other Upgrades

Google unveiled the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at the Made by Google event. This model is a well-thought-out evolution in the foldable smartphone category and could rival Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 with numerous upgrades. While not focusing on radical designs, Google refined its features to enhance durability, performance, and display quality.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a similar design to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold but includes subtle changes for better ergonomics. It is 0.3mm thicker but slightly narrower due to a new gearless hinge, making it easier to hold despite its larger form factor. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the rear panel and rails add to both the premium look and durability of the device.

Google addressed durability concerns by making the Pixel 10 Pro Fold the first foldable smartphone to receive an IP68 rating, ensuring complete water and dust resistance. This hinge is designed to handle 180,000 folds, translating to about 10 years of daily use. This leap significantly improves longevity compared to previous models.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes equipped with Google’s Tensor G5 chip paired with 16GB of RAM, enhancing its performance and supporting advanced AI capabilities. Features like Magic Cue can proactively display relevant information based on context. Additional functionalities such as drag-and-drop improve multitasking and handling of varied apps.

The display of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold includes an 8-inch inner screen and a 6.4-inch outer screen, with up to 3,000 nits brightness for outdoor use. The device can extend usage to 30 hours thanks to its 5,015 mAh battery capacity, addressing the limited battery life issue common in foldables.

Google embraced Qi2 wireless charging and introduced the “Pixelsnap” ecosystem with magnetic accessories for secure alignment. Charging speeds reach up to 25W, providing a fast experience. The camera setup includes a triple rear system with a 48MP wide lens, a 10.5MP ultrawide macro lens, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens, enhancing computational photography.

Available for pre-order starting October 9th, the base model with 256GB storage and 16GB of RAM costs $1,799. Google offers 512GB and 1TB storage options at higher prices. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes in two new color options: Moonstone and Jade, adding a vibrant touch to the device.
