James Gunn, who is spearheading the resurgence of DC alongside Peter Safran, primarily focuses on upcoming DC films, such as his recently directed Superman movie. However, he also oversees future DC games and has admitted that there’s “one thing in particular” he’s excited about, although most projects are still in “early stages.”
In an interview with GamesRadar, Gunn vaguely discussed the upcoming DC games, which form one of four key pillars alongside Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, and Game of Thrones. WB Games is concentrating its efforts on these franchises.
Gunn mentioned, “There’s been some slight movement on different things. We have a couple of small DC games coming out, but we’re also planning – in early stages – some bigger projects. One thing, specifically, I’m excited about, but it takes time. There have been changes at Warner Bros Games, and so we’re working with new people.”
Some of these changes include the restructuring of WB Games to focus on just four major franchises and the closure of Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and the cancellation of a Wonder Woman game.
Currently, the next significant DC character game is LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, announced at Gamescom ONL 2025. This title will release in 2026 on PC and consoles.
