Google recently upgraded its entire Pixel 10 family to include the faster UFS 4.0 storage. However, the base 128GB versions still use the slower UFS 3.1 technology. To get UFS 4.0 in your Pixel 10 model, you must choose the 256GB version—this will cost $100 more than the 128GB option in the U.S., but even the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s base model uses UFS 4.0 due to its 256GB storage.
UFS 4.0 offers up to 200 percent faster data transfer speeds and consumes 46 percent less power than UFS 3.1. This technology improves app launch times, enhances responsiveness, and performs actions more quickly on your smartphone. The higher read and write speeds also ensure that the larger storage variants can record 4K footage without performance drops, enhancing reliability.
While using UFS 3.1 isn’t necessarily bad, it doesn’t justify a $799 price tag when every model ships with the newer 3nm Tensor G5 chipset.
