Interestingly, a leaked benchmark test for the REDMAGIC 11 Pro shows that it could potentially use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. This is surprising because the company usually opts for the flagship chipset in its releases. The leaked scores show that the device achieves single-core and multi-core scores of 3,309 and 10,742 respectively, running on 16GB of RAM with two performance cores operating at 4.20GHz and six efficiency cores at 3.63GHz.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, which was announced last year, had performance cores running at 4.32GHz with efficiency cores at 3.53GHz. The current scores are quite impressive considering that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is not a flagship-class chipset. It’s possible that REDMAGIC chose this chip due to cost constraints or because it believes the non-flagship model offers better value for money.
The highest clock speeds for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the leak are 4.20GHz, which is lower than the maximum frequency of 4.74GHz recorded for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. This could be due to the superior cooling system of the REDMAGIC 11 Pro.
Additionally, it was reported that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 ran at its full speeds in Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Edge, which performed similarly to the REDMAGIC 11 Pro.
In summary, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 could be a less powerful but mass-produced flagship SoC that offers exceptional value for money.
