Rapper Snoop Dogg expressed outrage at the portrayal of LGBTQ+ themes in children’s movies after watching Disney’s film *Lightyear* with his grandson. He commented, “They’re putting it everywhere.”
In an interview on the *It’s Giving* podcast, Snoop recounted how his grandson became confused by a same-sex couple in the movie and asked, “Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!” Snoop responded, “I’m scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s*** that I don’t have an answer for.”
These remarks reflect broader cultural debates about LGBTQ+ representation in media aimed at children. With Disney’s *Lightyear* being its first animated feature to depict a same-sex kiss and portray a same-gender couple raising a child, reactions range from celebration to controversy.
Snoop Dogg’s comments led to calls to cancel his upcoming performance at the Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final, according to local broadcaster 9 News Australia. A news presenter pointed out that Snoop’s performance could be seen as a double standard given the AFL’s recent sanctions on Izak Rankine for using a homophobic slur.
The AFL general counsel, Stephen Meade, stated, “In an AFL environment, this behavior is not acceptable. Homophobia has no place in football.”
Snoop Dogg has not responded to calls for his removal from upcoming events.
