Here’s something I wasn’t expecting to write about: YouTuber and modder InfernoPlus has successfully ported The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to the Elden Ring engine.
InfernoPlus initially planned to port Morrowind to Dark Souls 1, then shifted to Dark Souls 3, and eventually to Elden Ring. Not only is FromSoftware’s latest game superior in every way, including fidelity and gameplay, but its advanced modding tools have also matured significantly, making such a massive undertaking possible.
InfernoPlus mentioned he has been working on the project for some time and is now roughly halfway done. However, it’s difficult to gauge progress accurately at this stage. The modder stated that world generation is complete, lighting and world effects are nearly finished, but some lighting processing still needs improvement.
Interiors are also almost complete, while dialogue generation requires the loading of scripting data. Voice acting will be added near the end of the project’s development. However, NPCs—both animals and humanoids—are currently unconverted: they appear as Elden Ring’s default girl (for humanoids) and goats (for animals).

In the video, InfernoPlus addresses the copyright issue, stating that the project cannot violate any laws because it does not include Morrowind data. It requires users to have a legitimate copy of Morrowind installed along with the mod. The project is open source and can be supported through InfernoPlus’s Patreon page.
InfernoPlus also requested community help, especially in certain areas requiring expertise. This project joins another total conversion mod called Skywind, which is currently being developed for Morrowind. Additionally, there’s the Morro RTX mod, aimed at significantly boosting the original game’s visuals with NVIDIA RTX Remix technology, though it remains in its early stages.
