No ray tracing options appear in the graphics settings of Battlefield 6, even during recent beta test weekends. The absence of these features was already evident, but to confirm, Comicbook.com spoke with Christian Buhl, Studio Technical Director at Ripple Effect (formerly DICE LA). Buhl confirmed that ray tracing was not considered and is unlikely to be included in the near future.
Ray-tracing will not be available when the game launches, nor do we have plans for it soon. We prioritized performance to ensure our efforts were focused on optimizing the game for default settings and users. Early on, we decided against ray-tracing because it would help us concentrate on performance for everyone else.
While it may feel like a step backward considering Battlefield V supported ray tracing in 2018, and Battlefield 2042 offered it three years later, Buhl is correct that a competitive multiplayer shooter should prioritize performance.
The Battlefield 6 beta was well-received, with the largest number of players registered for this franchise. GeForce users can further enhance performance with NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Multi Frame Generation. AMD users can enable FSR 3 with FSR Frame Generation, while Intel users can select Intel XeSS with XeSS Frame Generation.
The full game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X on October 10.
