The game was officially unveiled at Gamescom 2025 with a cinematic trailer and a confirmed release window in 2026. It takes place several centuries after the previous installment and retains the dual-world mechanics, with Umbral (the world of the dead) encroaching on Axiom (the world of the living). Players will need to find a way to prevent Umbral from consuming all existence.

CI Games also plans to implement community feedback for this sequel, including several highly requested features and improved combat balance. The developers hope that Lords of the Fallen II can achieve an “Empire Strikes Back” moment for the fantasy action RPG franchise.
