The GPU supply has apparently stabilized, but NVIDIA is taking preemptive measures to avoid an oversupply. The company is reducing the supply of the RTX 5060 series GPUs to its board partners.
NVIDIA Rumored to Cut RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 Supply Temporarily
Most RTX 50 series GPUs were launched a few months ago, but their availability has finally stabilized. According to reports from Channel Gate (via IT Home), NVIDIA is rumored to be reducing the supply of some RTX 50 series GPUs to its board partners in order to maintain pricing stability and prevent oversupply.
The reduction will affect both the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti. NVIDIA’s board partners have a substantial inventory of these GPUs, and NVIDIA does not want them to sell at lower prices, which would impact its margins and those of its board partners.
NVIDIA reportedly plans to cut the supply by about 15% for the RTX 5060 Ti and up to 30% for the RTX 5060. Both GPUs use variants of the GB206 chip, targeting the budget and lower mid-range GPU segments. This makes them popular among gamers, especially the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB card (only the 8 GB edition will be affected).
By reducing supply, NVIDIA and its board partners can maintain higher prices and avoid sacrificing profits. The supply cut is expected to start this month, but it’s unclear how long NVIDIA plans to keep the supply tight.
This isn’t the first time NVIDIA has tried to limit GPU supply to retain higher prices. Two months ago, when the RTX 50 GPUs became readily available on most retailers, reports suggested that NVIDIA made similar cuts. Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, some RTX 50 GPUs are already selling for much higher prices, and NVIDIA continues to gain more PC GPU market share.
