Apple has recently released beta 9 of its upcoming iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 updates to developers for testing and bug fixing. The latest betas were made available a week after the release of the eighth beta, which was believed to be the final beta before the official rollout. It seems that Apple still has one more beta round left before releasing the candidate build for developers.
Apple Unexpectantly Rolls Out Beta 9 of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Just Days Before iPhone 17 Launch
If you are a registered developer, you can download and install the latest beta updates on your iPhone or iPad through the Settings app. Navigate to General > Software Update > Beta Updates, then follow the on-screen instructions for installation. Note that this process is identical for both devices. Additionally, make sure your Apple ID is linked to your Developer Account to receive the updates over-the-air (OTA). Otherwise, the updates won’t appear in the Settings app.
Apple has also released beta 9 of macOS Tahoe 26, which can be downloaded through System Settings > Software Update. Similarly, you need to link your Apple ID to your Developer Account for OTA updates. The company has also made watchOS 26, visionOS 26, and tvOS 26 available for testing purposes, with the final release candidate likely to follow soon.
The iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 updates bring significant changes in front-facing features and visual designs. They are expected to alter your usage patterns, particularly on iPads, which bridge the gap between tablets and laptops. The rest of these updates are also substantial, so be sure to check them out too. Apple will host its ‘Awe Dropping’ iPhone 17 launch event next week on September 9, with full coverage coming from our team.
