AMD’s ROCm documentation recently added a new RDNA 4 GPU to its supported list, named the Radeon RX 9060 XL. However, this GPU has not been officially confirmed by AMD. Currently, we have a few GPUs based on the NAVI 44 die, such as the Radeon RX 9060 XT (in both 8 GB and 16 GB versions) and the most recent RDNA 4 GPU, the Radeon RX 9060.
Since the launch of the Radeon RX 9060 two months ago, no new RX 9000 GPUs have been announced for release in the near future. Yet, AMD’s ROCm documentation suggests otherwise.
In the latest update to its software stack, AMD ROCm (Radeon Open Compute) lists a brand new GPU called Radeon RX 9060 XL. This is something we haven’t heard about previously anywhere. Theoretically, it should be a cut-down version of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, but the naming alone is peculiar since the “XL” suffix is usually associated with specific GPU dies and not the actual name.

We’re uncertain if this is a new GPU or just a typo. Someone who edited the table might have mistakenly filled in the wrong architecture for Radeon RX 9000 GPUs, which should be RDNA 4 and not RDNA 3.
The Radeon RX 9060 XT uses the NAVI 44 XT die, while the exact variant of the Radeon RX 9060 is unknown. It could be either NAVI 44 XL or just NAVI 44, similar to its predecessors. For instance, the RX 7600 XT from the previous generation uses a NAVI 33 XT die, whereas the RX 7600 (non-XT) uses a NAVI 33 XL die. Following this pattern, the Radeon RX 9060 XL could potentially be equivalent to the Radeon RX 9060 (non-XT).
