Apple recently hosted its event, which featured numerous exciting hardware announcements. The iPhone 17 series stole the spotlight, but Apple Watch users were eagerly anticipating improvements in this smartwatch line. It appears that Apple was determined to refresh things with significant upgrades to health features and new models of the Watch Series 11, Ultra Watch 3, and Apple Watch SE 3, as well as by discontinuing older generations.
**Apple Discontinues the Apple Watch SE 2, Series 10, and Ultra 2 Following the Launch of the New Lineup**
While introducing its next-generation smartwatch lineup—comprising the Apple Watch SE 3, Series 11, and Ultra 3 models—the company marked the end of these predecessors. These older models are no longer available through official Apple channels.
**Apple Watch SE 2:**
Launched in September 2022, this model became popular among budget-conscious users due to its S8 chip and nylon composite case back. The new SE 3 comes with an improved S10 chip and extended battery life, offering numerous enhancements over the previous generation. Consequently, Apple has removed the SE 2 from sale.
**Apple Watch Ultra 2:**
Debuted in September 2023, this model was designed for outdoor enthusiasts with a brighter display, rugged design, and an S9 chip that improved performance. The addition of Double Tap gesture control made the watch more intuitive. However, with the advanced features of the new Ultra 3 model, the Ultra 2 has been phased out.
**Apple Watch Series 10:**
Introduced just last year in September, this model featured a slimmer form factor and a revamped design. Despite these upgrades, Apple has discontinued the Series 10 in favor of the newer Series 11. The new models are now available for pre-order and come with significant improvements both externally and internally.
This is not the first time Apple has phased out older models; it believes in creating space for newer versions to maintain a focused product lineup.
