### Apple Boosts RAM to 12GB on iPhone 17 Air and Pro Models, Leaving the Standard iPhone 17 at 8GB
All iPhone 16 models came with 8GB of RAM as standard. However, for the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple has divided it into two categories: 8GB and 12GB. The standard iPhone 17 comes with 8GB of RAM, while the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max feature an upgraded 12GB of RAM.
The iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to have 12GB of RAM due to their “Pro” designation. The iPhone Air, which replaces the iPhone 16 Plus, is a blend of both. It includes the A19 Pro chip but with a 5-core GPU instead of the 6-core GPU found in the iPhone 17 Pro models.
The extra 4GB of RAM on the iPhone Air and the Pro models will benefit users who want smoother multitasking or more headroom for future software updates and enhancements. Additionally, the larger RAM count contributes to better performance under demanding tasks such as video editing.
