When the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed in April, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was among several third-party games announced for the new console. After multiple reports and hints, Square Enix has officially confirmed that the entire Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy will release on both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox consoles, alongside its already scheduled releases on PlayStation and PC.
Following a release date reveal for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade during today’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix announced via Twitter that not only is Remake Intergrade coming to Switch 2 on January 22, 2026, but the entire trilogy will also be available on Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC as well as PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
This news is great for Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 users who are fans of the series. However, there’s one minor wrinkle: whether or not the third game in the trilogy will release simultaneously on all platforms, including Switch 2, Xbox Series devices, and PC. It’s possible that this final installment could initially be exclusive to PlayStation for at least a year before appearing on other consoles.
At least we know these games won’t remain exclusively on PlayStation and PC forever. The next question is whether Final Fantasy XVI will also make the switch to Nintendo Switch 2.
