Tyler Robinson, 22, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10. The investigation continues, with Utah Governor Spencer Cox stating that Robinson is not cooperating with FBI investigators but his romantic partner is.
Robinson was arrested after authorities tied him to the crime through online messages, interviews with family members and friends, and surveillance video. Cox mentioned that charging documents will detail what motivates Robinson and forensic evidence connecting him to the shooting.
The suspect has no criminal history. He attended high school in St. George, registered to vote (unaffiliated politically), and wore a Trump-related Halloween costume in 2017. In August 2020, he scored an impressive 34 on the ACT test, placing him in the top 1% of test takers, earning a $32,000 scholarship to Utah State University.
Robinson’s romantic partner is cooperating with investigators, according to Cox. However, Robinson himself has not confessed and is not assisting the investigation. Inscriptions found on bullets include “Notices bulges OwO What’s This?” (a meme reference) and “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao” (which some far-right groups have started using ironically).
