Today, PocketPair announced via a video message that it aims to release Palworld 1.0 in 2026. To achieve this, the company will focus on polishing rather than adding major new content during the rest of 2025. Communications Director and Publishing Manager ‘Bucky’ explained:
“We’ve reached a crossroads and need to decide what comes next. While we have many ideas for where we want to take Palworld, it’s crucial that we start thinking about version 1.0. Beyond just adding new content, there’s significant cleanup needed before the game can exit early access. It has a lot of quirks and jank, and we want to address those properly before releasing the game. With this in mind, we plan to start that cleanup now. Our goal is to release Palworld next year in 2026. Taking extra time to fix these issues will ultimately lead to a better game. This means things will be quieter from us for the rest of the year. It also means our winter update won’t be as large as the Feybreak update was. We hope our players understand that we’re taking this extra time to improve the game overall. However, it doesn’t mean there will be no updates. We do have a few surprises planned for our winter update.”
Bucky also mentioned that PocketPair is doing other things, such as supporting other small developers through a publishing division and researching new game ideas for future projects. Palworld remains the company’s primary focus due to its incredible success since launch in early 2024, breaking records for concurrent players on Steam.
The Japanese developer also faces a Nintendo lawsuit, filed nearly a year ago for alleged patent infringement. While PocketPair is fighting this in court, they were forced to make some changes to the game in the meantime.
