### AMD Brings Zen 5 to Edge with EPYC 4005 “AM5” Desktop CPUs: Six New SKUs
AMD today announced the **EPYC Embedded 4005 Series** processors, optimized for real-time compute performance in network security appliances and entry-level industrial edge servers. These processors are built on AMD’s server technology and designed to address low latency, efficient design, longevity, affordability, and extended product lifecycles.
#### High-Performance Features
The EPYC Embedded 4005 Series integrates up to 16 cores and 32 threads in a compact 4 nm chiplet design. It supports high clock speeds and up to 128 MB of L3 cache, making it ideal for tasks requiring rapid data management and latency-sensitive operations like network packet processing.
#### Advanced Security and Connectivity
The processors include AVX-512 support with a 512-bit data path, enhancing AI inference workloads. The configurable TDP range (65W to 170W) allows customers to balance performance and efficiency for specific embedded use cases, such as next-generation firewalls.
#### Long-Term Value
These processors are designed with seven years of planned manufacturing availability, ensuring supply stability. Built-in RAS features like DRAM ECC and PCIe error detection help maximize runtime operations. The AM5 socket is consistent across multiple generations, simplifying board design and system development while maintaining x86 software compatibility for faster time-to-market.
#### Connectivity and Security
Supporting DDR5 memory at 5600 MT/s with sideband ECC and PCIe Gen 5 with 28 lanes and 11 root ports, the processors enable seamless integration of high-speed networking, storage, and accelerators. Built-in AMD Infinity Guard security features protect sensitive data from sophisticated attacks.
