We know that RGG Studio is working on Stranger Than Heaven and a new Virtua Fighter title. It’s reasonable to assume there will be a new Like a Dragon game soon. As for what else the studio might be developing, we have an upcoming RGG Summit next week, but it seems someone at SEGA or RGG Studio may have leaked details about the next Yakuza game. The mention was briefly spotted on the studio’s official site and shared to X (formerly Twitter) before being posted to Reddit. Though quickly removed, it remained cached in Google under “龍が如く 極 3” site:http://ryu-ga-gotoku.com/.
Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are remakes of Yakuza 1 and Yakuza 2, so Yakuza Kiwami 3 would likely be a remake of Yakuza 3. If this is indeed true, we should expect more information about Stranger Than Heaven, Virtua Fighter, the next Like a Dragon game, and an official Kiwazi 3 reveal at next week’s RGG Summit and Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Last year, RGG Studio’s series director for Yakuza, Masayoshi Yokoyama, hinted that Yakuza Kiwami 3 might happen “someday.” It seems ‘someday’ is closer than we initially thought.
