Apple made a bold move with the iPhone Air, boasting a thickness of just 5.6mm, which naturally raised durability concerns for potential buyers. However, a bend test performed by YouTuber JerryRigEverything will ease any worries. The test shows that it takes a staggering 216 pounds (97 kg) of concentrated force to crack the front glass. Even then, the iPhone Air proved resilient, maintaining its shape after the break.
**Even After the Front Glass Broke, the iPhone Air Remained Rigid**
When Zach from JerryRigEverything tested the iPhone Air, he first used his own strength to try and snap it in half. Despite the distortion, there was no cracking or snapping sound.
During a more rigorous test, Zach used a crane scale with steel chains to apply concentrated pressure to the 5.6mm device. At around 216 pounds (97 kg), there was a strong snapping sound, and upon investigation, a crack appeared on the display. Remarkably, the phone continued to function normally.
What’s impressive is that even when bent, the iPhone Air maintained its shape when efforts were made to return it to its original form. This means it would take an incredibly unlucky situation to break the iPhone Air, with even Apple executives demonstrating its durability by throwing and bending it.
