At Gamescom 2025, AMD has introduced a significant update to its FidelityFX suite with the release of FidelityFX SDK 2.0. This new version introduces several advanced technologies, including ML-based neural rendering and FSR Redstone, which are now available for developers.
Key Changes in FidelityFX SDK 2.0:
1. **FSR Redstone Integration**: The update includes support for AMD FSR Redstone, a powerful AI-driven technique that enhances graphics through path tracing, radiance caching, and super resolution.
2. **SDK Updates**: The new suite of features—starting with FSR 4 upscaling and FSR 3.1.5 analytical frame generation—is designed to prepare for next-generation AMD hardware and ML-based technologies.
3. **Future Driver Updates**: Future AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver releases will update the version of ML-based technologies used in games by default, ensuring players benefit from the latest available technology without requiring game updates.
– Games that have previously integrated FSR 3.1 or later can automatically upgrade to FSR 4 upscaled technology via future AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition releases.
– Similarly, games using FSR 3.1.4 will be eligible for upgrades to the upcoming FSR ML Frame Generation technology.
4. **FSR 3.1.5**: This minor update includes improvements such as reduced ghosting on moving objects, better preservation of particle effects, superior detail and temporal stability, a simple API upgrade path, Unreal Engine 5 support, automatic updates, and support for AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series graphics cards and older models.
The differences between FSR 4 and FSR 3 upscaling can be observed in the visual examples provided. For instance, FSR 4 enhances the clarity and stability of moving objects and particle effects while maintaining superior detail.
Developers can easily integrate these technologies into their games through the updated SDK. To access the latest features and documentation, developers can download the FidelityFX SDK v2 package from [this link](https://gpuopen.com/FidelityFX_SDK_2_download/), read the [FSR 4 Documentation here](https://gpuopen.com/manuals/fidelityfx_sdk2/techniques/super-resolution-ml/), and view the SDK on GitHub at [this link](https://github.com/GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/FidelityFX-SDK).
In addition, AMD has released FSR 4.0.2 in GPUOpen for developers to access the latest upscaling and frame-generation methods.
With this announcement, AMD is taking a significant step towards parity with NVIDIA’s neural rendering techniques, bringing us closer to more advanced graphics capabilities.
