A rally in Anchorage against the Trump-Putin summit will highlight support for Ukraine and opposition to Putin on U.S. soil, according to organizers from Stand UP Alaska. The event is set for downtown Anchorage on Thursday, prior to the anticipated meeting between U.S. and Russian leaders to discuss the war in Ukraine.
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has expressed approval that his state will host the Trump-Putin meeting.
A protest at Midtown Mall in Anchorage from 4:30 p.m., drawing around 7,000 people based on a previous rally, is planned. A press conference and another rally are also scheduled for Friday. Erin Jackson-Hill, executive director of Stand UP Alaska, emphasizes that the key slogan “Alaska Supports Ukraine” reflects anger at Putin’s presence in their state and his status as a war criminal.
Putin faces travel restrictions due to an ICC indictment for war crimes, which the U.S. does not recognize. Wayne Jordash from Global Rights Compliance warned that any ceasefire agreement in Alaska forcing Ukraine to concede territory would violate the U.N. Charter and abandon Ukrainian civilians under Russian occupation.

Erin Jackson-Hill stated, “Alaska stands with Ukraine, and we don’t appreciate authoritarian dictators being invited to our state, especially not by our governor or congressional delegation. Putin is a war criminal, and he has no place on American soil.”
Wayne Jordash warned, “Any ceasefire deal agreed in Alaska that forces Ukraine into conceding its sovereign territory will amount to a violation of the U.N. Charter … and an abandonment of Ukrainian civilians living under brutal Russian occupation.”
