MoTD (Mobile Optimum Technology Design) motherboards have gained popularity due to their excellent price-to-performance ratio. AOOSTAR has taken the lead with its latest M-ATX MoTD motherboard, which supports both the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and Ryzen 9 9955HX CPUs.
The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D variant includes a 2nd Gen 3D V-Cache stack beneath a single CCD, doubling the standard L3 cache to 64 MB. The X3D version also features 32 threads and up to 5.4 GHz clock speeds, with TDPs configurable from 55W to 75W.
The motherboard itself boasts a sleek black/white design and a 10-phase VRM for power delivery. It includes two Gen5 x4 M.2 slots for NVMe storage, one full-length PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for GPUs, and an additional PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. The board supports up to 128 GB of DDR5 UDIMMs.
Priced at approximately $650 US for the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D MoTD motherboard and $500 US for the standard Ryzen 9 9955HX variant, these motherboards offer excellent value. The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D costs around $700 US as a standalone CPU, making the MoTD option particularly appealing.
AOOSTAR is expected to provide more details and begin sales soon. Meanwhile, Minisforum has teased its own Ryzen 9 9955HX-based motherboard using the X870M chipset but hasn’t released specific availability information yet.
