You might recall that it had been announced back in February alongside NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support. While DLSS 4 MFG was indeed introduced with that update, RTX Hair wasn’t. Clearly, NVIDIA and MachineGames still needed to work out some technical issues.
RTX Hair utilizes linear swept spheres, a new hardware feature introduced with the GeForce RTX 50 Series of graphics cards. This innovation renders hair using spheres instead of triangles, which is better suited for the shape of hair and reduces the required geometry per strand. Additionally, RTX Hair reportedly offers superior lighting and shadows while occupying only a small memory footprint. However, it will be available on Blackwell GPUs in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, with other GPUs using the existing hair model.
NVIDIA did not provide specific performance data on how RTX Hair would impact frame rates in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. We’ll have to test this ourselves when the update goes live in a few weeks. The highly acclaimed first-person action/adventure game will also soon receive its story-based premium DLC, The Order of Giants, which was included with the Premium Edition but can be purchased separately (with the Digital Premium Upgrade) for €35.
