The new ASRock BIOS has been released, offering improved optimizations for both the CPU and memory. This update aims to address issues with Ryzen 9000 CPUs on ASRock motherboards.
### ASRock 800-Series Motherboards Receive Latest BIOS 3.40
ASRock has released a new BIOS version (3.40) for its 800-series motherboards, which includes several enhancements:
– **Improved Memory Compatibility and System Stability**
– **Enhanced CPU Operation Stability**
According to the release notes, this update should mitigate problems with Ryzen CPUs, particularly the Ryzen 9000 series.
#### BIOS Update Details
The exact changes in the BIOS are not officially detailed. However, ASRock claims these updates align with AMD’s guidelines for Ryzen 7000/9000 CPUs. Recently, AMD acknowledged that most deaths of Ryzen 9800X3D and 9000 series CPUs were due to ODM BIOS non-compliance and encouraged users to update their motherboard BIOSes to the latest versions.
Despite updating to the latest BIOSes, some users still reported burnt CPUs on ASRock motherboards. The latest BIOS (3.40) is likely the only one with an enhancement for CPU stability.
#### Key BIOS Changes
– **Load-Line Calibration (LLC):** For SOC, LLC is now fixed at Level 3.
– **VDDCR_SOC Voltage:** Set to 1.2V in Fixed Mode.
These changes aim to prevent the SOC voltage from exceeding 1.2V, reducing the risk of degradation and damage.
