In what feels like one of the most tumultuous periods in Ubisoft’s history, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has continued to be a bright spot for the company. According to a new report from The Game Business (backed by numbers from Game Sales Data), it is the best-selling new game in Europe so far in 2025.
At this point, Shadows is the top-selling PC and console title in Europe among all games released in 2025. Although EA Sports FC 25 holds the overall best-seller title for last year, Assassin’s Creed Shadows surpasses major releases such as Monster Hunter Wilds, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Elden Ring: Nightreign, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and other notable titles from this year. In fact, Split-Fiction is the only other game to come close in terms of sales.
Among the top-20 best-selling games in Europe so far for 2025 (including older releases), Assassin’s Creed Shadows, along with Split-Fiction, Monster Hunter Wilds, Mario Kart World, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Oblivion Remastered, and Nightreign are the only seven games from this year to make the list.
Other notable mentions include Star Wars Battlefront II, which is enjoying a remarkable year despite being nearly eight years old, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, benefiting from Ubisoft’s revamp with Rainbow Six Siege X.
The full top-20 list of best-selling games in Europe for 2025 (PC and consoles) according to Game Sales Data:

It’s important to note that this ranking is based on sales data for Europe’s PC and console game releases as of now. By the end of the year, it’s unlikely that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will retain its top spot among new releases due to upcoming titles such as EA Sports FC 26, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Battlefield 6, Borderlands 4, Ghost of Yotei, and Pokemon Legends Z-A.
We’ll see how this list changes in a few months. For now, Ubisoft can bask in its moment at the top.
