In just the second week of its open beta, Battlefield 6 is already showing strong player numbers on Steam. The game has surpassed 400K concurrent players and is predicted to reach over 1 million pre-orders, according to analyst Rhys Elliot from Alinea Analytics. On Twitter, Elliot shared that the game has already sold 605K copies in pre-orders, with EA expected to earn $35 million in pre-sales revenue.
Elliot elaborated on these predictions in an interview with Eurogamer, stating that Battlefield 6 is “on track to do extremely well: the best Battlefield has ever done.” However, he remains more realistic than EA executives, believing that achieving their target of 100 million players is “completely unrealistic.”
The game’s success will depend on its ability to maintain momentum from the beta into launch and stand out among other major shooters being released at the same time, such as Borderlands 4. Elliot acknowledges Battlefield 6’s strengths in large maps, core classes, and destruction but notes that Call of Duty still has a massive audience due to yearly launches, Warzone cross-pollination marketing, seasonal content, and streamer partnerships.
“We’ll see how Battlefield 6 does when it arrives this coming October,” says Elliot. In the meantime, players can continue to enjoy the beta, especially those on PC who may need to enable Secure Boot to get it running smoothly.
