Companies strive to innovate and lead in the smartphone market. However, as competition intensifies, the line between inspiration and imitation becomes blurred. Infinix appears to be mirroring the rumored iPhone 17 Air before its official announcement. The concept of the iPhone 17 Air has already garnered attention for its slim and lightweight design with trimmed-down bezels and a new chassis. Even before Apple reveals it, this concept is being cloned.
Tech tipster Ben Geskin highlighted Infinix’s mimicry on X by sharing an image that closely resembles the rumored iPhone 17 Air. Well-known tech insider Max Jambor commented cheekily: “iPhone 17 Air is not even out yet, and the Chinese are already copying it.” The resemblance between the two devices is striking; both feature clean aesthetics with razor-thin edges, minimal rear panels, and ultra-thin models.
While Apple has confirmed nothing, it’s surprising to see Chinese manufacturers quickly adopting concepts. This approach could be a bold business strategy to capitalize on popular design elements at a lower cost. Infinix might even establish itself as an alternative premium option in the market where genuine iPhones are becoming unaffordable for many consumers.
However, imitations may gain short-term attention but building true identity requires originality and innovation. This situation highlights Apple’s significant influence on the smartphone industry and how rumors can set design trends, emphasizing its leading role.
