The latest DDR5 series by Colorful is well-optimized to reach high speeds with low latency. The Shadow II DDR5 achieved 9600 MT/s on the AM5 platform at optimal latency.
### Colorful iGame Shadow II DDR5 Pushed to 9600 MT/s and 7200 MT/s
On the AMD AM5 platform, memory speeds are supported well due to faster DDR5 kits from manufacturers like Colorful and enhanced memory controllers in Ryzen 9000 CPUs. Colorful’s iGame Shadow II DDR5, launched last month, performs excellently with AMD’s high-end gaming CPUs.
#### Dual-Channel Configuration
With a dual-channel configuration using processors like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D, the iGame Shadow II DDR5 achieved 9600 MT/s at CL30. The motherboard used, ROG Crosshair X870E APEX, is designed for extreme memory overclocking with support for just two DIMMs.
#### Stabilized at Lower Latency
Using a Colorful iGame Shadow II DDR5 kit (2x 16 GB 6400 MT/s), the system was able to achieve 9600 MT/s at CL30, while running at 7200 MT/s at CL24. This dual-channel setup is particularly challenging but feasible with this memory.
#### Stable Performance
In a second test, the memory reached 9200 MT/s, verified by RunMemtest Pro as stable. While higher latency is introduced compared to 9600 MT/s, it provides more practical and reliable performance in the long run.
#### Tight Timings for Lower Latency
For another setup using the Ryzen 9 9950X3D on the same motherboard, at a 1:1 ratio (UCLK = MCLK), the memory hit 7200 MT/s with tight timings of CL24-37-32-38. This configuration also passed RunMemtest Pro, confirming excellent stability.
#### High-Speed Binning
Colorful attributes these high speeds and low latency to carefully binned SK Hynix memory chips and the iGame Shadow II’s 10-layer PCB design that reduces signal interference.
