A Chinese overclocker, “wytiwx,” has achieved the highest frequency on the Core i9-14900KF using liquid helium cooling with an ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard. This breakthrough follows his first attempt in January when he surpassed the previous record of 9117.75 MHz by reaching 9121.61 MHz.
The Raptor Lake Refresh series continues to impress, not only in gaming and productivity but also in overclocking. Intel’s 14th-gen processors are among the most popular for gaming due to their high clock speeds. SKUs like the Core i9-14900K, -14900KF, and -14900KS are capable of reaching nearly 9 GHz, setting new frequency records.
In this latest achievement, wytiwx pushed all eight performance cores to a staggering 9130.33 MHz using liquid helium cooling, which typically results in higher frequencies compared to other methods like liquid nitrogen. CPU-Z software confirmed the overclocking details and specs, showing a core speed of 9.13 GHz at 1.388V.
wytiwx uploaded these results on HWBot and validated them with CPU-Z. He used an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard and Corsair Vengeance memory for this setup. In a comment, wytiwx thanked hardware makers like Corsair, ROG, Thermal Grizzly, ElmorLabs, and his team members MickaShuBL, Crystalright, and Markjinli.
Currently, Intel’s Raptor Lake/Refresh series remains one of the top choices for both gaming and productivity. While the Core Ultra 200S excels in multi-threaded operations, sales data indicates that consumers still prefer Intel’s 13th and 14th gen CPUs over Arrow Lake chips. Many budget and mid-range CPUs are available at a lower price than MSRP, and with Intel Gamer Days, the company is bundling Battlefield 6 with these processors.
