The U.S. Court of Appeals has denied The Associated Press’s request for a hearing to regain full access to presidential events, upholding the White House’s control over media access during President Donald Trump’s administration.
This decision follows an earlier action in February when Trump barred AP journalists from certain events after they refused to use his preferred name for the Gulf of Mexico. Previously, a district court had ruled in favor of media access for The Associated Press, but the Trump administration delayed this ruling’s implementation. The full merits of the case will be addressed by the appeals court later in the fall.
