In a unique start to his ruling against President Donald Trump’s administration on September 30, U.S. District Court Judge William Young included a scanned handwritten note sent to his office. The note read: “Trump has pardons and tanks – what do you have?” At the top of Young’s opinion in AAUP v. Rubio, which ruled that Trump’s effort to deport foreign-born student protesters was unconstitutional.

Additionally, Epic is updating payouts from engagement, with changes taking effect on November 1, 2025. Creators who bring in new or lapsed players will now receive 75% of those players’ contributions to the engagement payout pool for their first six months.

The company will also add a sponsored row to its Discover page. All creators will have transparent market data to bid for placement in this row and enter an auction to surface islands within it. The revenue split for sponsored placements follows the same timeline as in-game item sales, with developers earning 100% from November 2025 through December 2026.

Another new feature is Creator Communities, which will allow developers to build community forums with island updates, event information, and feedback requests. These posts will also appear to players across Island Lobbies, Island Pages, Creator Pages, and a new row in the Discover section.

This move comes as part of Epic’s ongoing competition with Roblox, highlighting the differences in earnings potential between the two platforms. However, whether this change will generate more revenue for Fortnite developers remains to be seen, as players must still want to purchase these items.

Epic stated that “Since UEFN launched, players have spent over 11.2 billion hours across 260,000 live creator-made islands, which has resulted in $722 million paid out to date. We’ll continue investing in new tools that unlock more development possibilities for creators.”
