Apple is committed to advancing mobile video production by enhancing its camera capabilities and offering editing options directly on iPhones. With the launch of Final Cut Camera 2.0, which includes support for ProRes RAW, users can now enjoy significant improvements in color grading without sacrificing image quality. This feature brings mobile filmmaking closer to professional standards.
The app also introduces genlock synchronization, ideal for multi-camera shoots, allowing devices to achieve frame-perfect synchronization using a shared reference signal. Third-party developers like Blackmagic Design are already exploring the integration of this feature into their systems. Additionally, Center Stage enhancements enable capturing various angles without rotating the device, offering more flexibility in framing shots.
Other noteworthy improvements include open gate recording for ultra-wide footage and Apple Log 2 support to enhance grading by preserving more details with greater precision. Since Final Cut Camera 2.0 seamlessly integrates with Final Cut Pro 11.2 and Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.3, editors can fine-tune their footage directly using this integration.
